1. Can you give us a bit of insight into what you will be sharing at the conference (without giving too much away!)
We will explore the intersection of sustainability and healthcare, where hygiene and usability converge. Not all modern, sustainable fibres are equal in terms of patient safety. In this talk, I’ll share insights from our comparative study of different wipe materials, revealing surprising findings about performance and user perception.
2. What is an important topic for the sector right now?
However, from the perspective of our customers and users, sustainability and sustainable disinfection were of only minor importance. This made it a real challenge for us to draw attention to the issue and to emphasise that sustainable wipes and wipe materials are in fact important topics that must be addressed.
3. What do you think will be the biggest challenge for the wipes and nonwovens industries in the coming 2-5 years?
When it comes to hygiene and disinfection wipes, we see two main challenges: developing fibres and wipes that are compatible with all available disinfection chemistries, while at the same time avoiding solutions that are too costly for the price-sensitive healthcare sector.
4. What do you see as some of the most interesting innovations in the market now?
From my perspective, the most exciting innovations are those that prove sustainability and functionality no longer have to be trade-offs, but can go hand in hand. Moreover, sustainable wipes and nonwovens can provide new and beneficial properties that were previously not possible with plastic-based wipes. I am truly looking forward to seeing what developments come next in this field.
5. What are you most looking forward to at the event?
I am fairly new to the wipes community and have only met most people online so far. I am looking forward to chatting with people face-to-face, perhaps over coffee and a delicious Viennese pastry, and discovering even more ways to collaborate.
